Doynton Conservation Area

The Doynton Conservation Area was designated in 1983 in recognition of the village's historic character, rural setting and the presence of many listed buildings. Since it was first approved the conservation area has not been appraised and the views of the community about it have never been sought

South Gloucestershire Council has a duty to periodically review all conservation areas and has agreed to this being done for Doynton in association with a community-led initiative proposed by the Doynton Parish Council. A conservation area appraisal, is recognised as a "Supplementary Planning Document" and as such has status in planning discussions and decisions. This power can be strengthened by evidence of community support for it.
